Giro of Thrones: the FSA teams presentation.

Here we are, ready to play the game as the first Grand Tour of the year is charged and ready to take to the stage. The curtain will raise on the 102nd Giro d’Italia this Saturday in Bologna, where a 21-stage drama will commence.


FSA and VISION will support 6 teams, each one will great ambitions at the start of “Corsa Rosa”.


ASTANA PRO TEAM


Astana is one of the best teams to fight for the Pink. The leader is Miguel Ángel López. The 25-year-old Colombian climber demonstrated his solidity last season, climbing the lowest step of the podium in both the Giro d’Italia and the Vuelta a España.

BAHRAIN-MERIDA


The leader of the Asian team will be obviously Vincenzo Nibali. At the twenty-first participation in a GT, the Shark is going to start his eighth “Corsa Rosa”, two years after the third place obtained in 2017 behind Tom Dumoulin and Nairo Quintana. In the seven previous appearances he has reached five times the final podium, winning in 2013 and 2016.

JUMBO-VISMA


The absolute leader of the selection will be Primoz Roglic, who at this start of the season has shown that he can compete with everyone, both uphill and in time trial. The Slovenian has entered a series of prestigious successes in one-week stage races, starting with the UAE Tour and the Tirreno-Adriatico to conclude with the last splendid victory at the Tour of Romandie.

EF EDUCATION FIRST


In the overall standings the leader will be Tanel Kangert, a rider who has repeatedly achieved interesting results as a wingman over the last seasons, while the sprinter will be the Italian Sacha Modolo.

ISRAEL CYCLING ACADEMY

At his second participation in a row, the Israeli Professional team is motivated to demonstrate its value on Italian roads again. The most anticipated man on the team is the Italian Davide Cimolai, who joined this year the team with the goal to reach an important result in flat stages.

The Italian-Japanese team  will be focused on stage successes. The leader will be Marco Canola, who already won a stage in 2014.
