VISION TEAMS AND ATHLETES READY FOR 2016

Vision Teams and Athletes ready for 2016 Following on from a very successful 2015 both in road stages and in time trials and triathlon, we’re really excited to see what our Vision supported teams and athletes can do in 2016. For the road season, we have focussed our support on the second division of cycling – the Professional Continental teams. These are the teams and riders who you will see bringing excitement and day long breaks to major races, while always riding with panache.

Our supported teams; Cofidis, Nippo – Vini Fantini and Team SouthEast will be making appearances at some of the biggest races in the world. In fact, both Nippo-Vini Fantini and Team South East have already been confirmed for the Giro d’Italia, and all three will ride the classic Milan-Sanremo. This means that Vision wheels will be leading from the front in the biggest races in the world.

Let’s start with Cofidis. Despite being a second division team, Cofidis have one of the strongest sprinters in the world; Nacer Bouhanni. Bouhanni could win any sprint stage that he starts; we really don’t want to rule any wins out. Wheels like the Vision Metron 55 will help Bouhanni to cross the line first when he faces off against Mark Cavendish, Marcel Kittel et al. Cofidis also have promising classics riders: Kenneth Vanbilsen and Michael van Staeyen. Finally, we should mention Clement Venturini. In his first year as a senior, Venturini has regularly placed in the top 10 in the cyclocross world cup – something that has been nearly unheard of in the last few years for a rider who isn’t Belgian or Dutch. These results bring lots of promise for future cyclocross results and the full spectrum of road events. Young ’cross aces can generally go on to excel across the board in the road.

Cofidis will be Vision-powered in the Milano-Sanremo and the Giro

Nippo-Vini Fantini exist to race in Italy, one of the hotbeds of cycling, with some of the most passionate fans – the tifosi – in the sport. They’ll be on the attack daily through the Giro d’Italia. Top tip – watch Eduard Grosu. The young Romanian sprinter gained top ten placings in the Giro last year and should be even faster this time around.

Look out for Nippo – Vini Fantini in the Giro d’Italia in May

Finally, Team SouthEast are the overall team winners of the Italian Cup last year, making them the most consistent squad in the country – easier said than done. Southeast will be aggressive throughout the major races in Italy and will look to the tactical nous of marquee rider Filippo Pozzato to deliver victories when others least expect it. Look to Pozzato’s victory in the 2006 Milan-Sanremo for evidence of what he is capable of.

Keep an eye on SouthEast in the Giro and the Milan-Sanremo this year!

At Vision we also actively and enthusiastically support a team of talented triathletes. Paul Ambrose, Pedro Gomes, Andrew Starykowicz and Michelle Vesterby set the bar very high last year and will look to progress further and achieve more in 2016.

Who will you be supporting this year? And, what are your targets for the season?
